- Pretty decorative cupcakes (which makes him reluctant to eat them, but his appetite always wins over in the end)

- Ribbons (especially silky ones)
- Games (poker, board games, hide-and-seek, etc.)
- Pillow fights (he absolutely loves these along with a variety of other sleepover activities)
- Baking (but he has to be extra careful as not to burn himself)
- Grouchy people (because he’s convinced he will be able to make them happier and makes it his goal to do so)
- Squishes/ hugs (he loves people squishing him, it’s similar to how a dog would feel being pet!)

Dislikes:

- Water (he gets heavy and saggy and it’s hard to be cheerful when you’re soaking wet)
- Messy/sloppy activities (cake fights, paintball, sports)
- Butterflies (he doesn’t just dislike them, he’s afraid of them, for some reason)
- Technology (he hates to see people caught up in their phones and laptops and starts to ignore others)
- Wrinkles (like any other Pillowing, he hates to see wrinkles, an indication of age and sloppiness)

Goal:

Warm Welcome uses his special aura and abilities to cheer up people, but what he can never seem to figure out is why his owner, the human that put in his heart token, would never be affected by his powers.

Personality:

Warm Welcome is a happy go-lucky Pillowing that enjoys others’ company. He’s always planning fun events and parties that he could invite other people to, and take pleasure in doing so. Because of this, he has a very wide social circle and know a lot of people. Warm Welcome has always worked efficiently and so when he has free time, he likes to think about the world. He thinks about why people choose to be unhappy, why his owner becomes worried, and what he could do to help. Sometimes he would get bursts of sadness and so his partying became like his defense mechanism. Warm Welcome doesn’t want to acknowledge all the problems around him; he’d rather remain oblivious and happy. However, those are only certain times that he feels these emotions and mostly, he’s a daring and spirited Pillowing with a kind heart.

Disclaimer:

This story takes place in a universe very similar to that of the Last Dragon Chronicles by Chris D’Lacey! Here, the owner of Warm Welcome is a descendant of a very powerful being, thus he has the power to bring alive Pillowings when he places a heart token inside of them. However, he is a “constructed” being that was not born like everyone else, but created through a spark of energy left by his dying ancestor, allowing him to possess slightly different functions than a normal human.

History:

The party-popper that is Warm Welcome’s heart token came from his owner’s like of parties as well. During one party that the owner attended, he met a girl that he immediately took a liking to. Although they did not end up together, the owner remembered that feeling of happiness and joy when he talked to the girl forever, as well as the little souvenir that she left behind, a blue and orange party-popper.

When Warm Welcome first gained his senses and felt his heart token inside of him, he immediately felt a glow of pleasure and satisfaction. Looking into his owner’s sparkling eyes, he felt like he knew his purpose in this family, household, and world. At first, he stayed inside the house and rarely went out, spending the days with his owner, keeping him company and playing with him. Later, his owner took him out a few times to meet other Pillowings and he immediately connected and wanted more of the contact with others. He went out more often when his owner wasn’t home.

Some time later, Warm Welcome noticed his owner’s presence less and less in the house. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t still love him as he still pampered and played with him when he could. However, Warm Welcome noticed how his particular charm of cheering others didn’t seem to work anymore on his owner as he had often caught glimpses of when his owner would stare our the window, a solemn expression on his face.

What Warm Welcome couldn’t understand was that his owner is a constructed being that didn’t feel “happiness” the same way others did. Warm Welcome’s owner was busy trying to unravel the mystery of his past and the enigmas in this world, thus he started paying less attention to the Pillowing.

Warm Welcome is also worried. He doesn’t want his owner to dislike him so he starts having more outings, parties, and events to distract his thoughts. Later, his owner confessed to Warm Welcome about his research, but explained that he still loved him. A few months later, his owner left for a research trip to discover his true identity and Warm Welcome lives in the house on his own for now.
